Politics

This is a bit of a different post from myself, recently I’ve been thinking about the likes of parliament & senior management in large organisations. Organisations that includes a lot of politics in the work environment, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re in a position where we need more technically hands on people embracing politics to some degree or another.

I’m not saying that we’ll need a bunch of software engineers to go & become MP’s, but at the same time, maybe we do need that. A prime example being when David Cameron was in power, he wanted to ban encryption in the United Kingdom. Now anyone with any level of technical knowledge will be able to tell you why that’s not just a bad idea, but it’s also a pretty damn stupid idea.

Based on my experience in this world so far, I may be bold & naive to say this, but many leaders & people in high up places do not have enough technical knowledge. This isn’t even me saying anything about any specific company to be exact, but I have some friends that work in other companies where they have many opinions to share.

An example; I have a friend that works in admin within a government body & he states that the policies, technologies & technological processes in place are made up by people that haven’t got a clue. Based on what he has said, this government body will basically buy any ol’ piece of turd that’s been rolled in glitter where it’s had a fancy sales speech tied to it.

So, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that people in senior management & even MP’s should really start consulting with people where they know what they’re talking about. Rather than making yourself look a bit stupid by saying that we should do really cool things, like ban encryption. 😐

You’re more than welcome to disagree with me, since I am young & dumb, but hey, that’s my 2 cents on the subject. Hell even feel free to try & educate me, I’m always open to learning more & expanding my mindset, you can never be too open minded. Unless you get so open minded that your brain falls out, then that may be a bit of an issue…

First of all, I’d like to start by being totally transparent & honest, I have never been to a developer convention prior to Swansea Con 2019, partially due to other commitments, finance, etc. But after my experience with Swansea Con, I can safely say that I’ll be sure to attend as many as I can,…

In this post, I’d like to talk about what I feel is a very interesting idea, I’d like to take the time to talk about engineering some user interface that interacts with an event driven microservice for a back end, whether this back end is utilising some message broker or something else is irrelevant.
